CORALENE

Polyvinylidenfluoride monofilament (PVDF)

 

Composition:

Polyvinylidenfluoride (PVDF).

 

Description:

Synthetic non-absorbable monofilament suture.

 

Colour:

Blue (C.I. 61568)

 

Sizes and standard needles:

EP from 0,4 to 4; USP from 8/0 to 1; Coralene is attached to AISI 300 or AISI 400 stainless steel atraumatic needles. It is also packed in pouches containing teflon pledget.

 

Indications:

In cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, general surgery, ophthalmic surgery, plastic surgery, skin surgery, thoracic surgery, when it is necessary to suture slow healing tissues or tissues requiring a non-absorbable suture; As most monofilament sutures, Coralene is indicated for suturing infected and contaminated tissues. Moreover, it is used when removing the suture during post-operative course because it doesn’t provoke adhesions.

TERYLENE

Braided multifilament polyester coated with silicone

 

Composition:

Polyester.

 

Description:

Braided synthetic non-absorbable suture coated with silicon.

 

Colour:

Green (green D&C n. 6 C.I. 61565) or undyed

 

Sizes and standard needles:

EP from 0,7 to 7; USP from 6/0 to 4;

 

Terylene: 

Is attached to AISI 300 or AISI 400 stainless steel atraumatic needles; it is also available with PTFE pledget, to prevent the laceration of cardiac valves.

 

Indications: 

In general surgery, when it is necessary to suture or tie tissues requiring a non-absorbable suture, in cardiovascular surgery and orthopaedics.

MAXILENE

Polyuretane polyether monofilament

 

Composition:

Polymer of polyether - polyurethane.

 

Description:

Synthetic non-absorbable monofimament suture.

 

Colour:

Blue (C.I. 74160 phthtalocyanine), or undyed.

 

Sizes and standard needles:

EP from 0,7 to 5; USP from 6/0 to 2; Maxilene is attached to AISI 300 or AISI 400 stainless steel atraumatic needles.

 

Indications: 

In general surgery, orthopaedics, skin surgery, when it necessary to suture slow healing tissues or tissues requiring a non-absorbable suture. Thanks to its technical features like its high resistance, excellent smoothness, softness and flexibility, Maxilene is particularly advisable for plastic surgery.

SUTRON

Nylon polyamide monofilament

 

Composition:

Polyamide 6 or polyamide 6,6. Mechanical and physical characteristics do not change much in the two types of polyamide.

 

Description:

Synthetic non-absorbable monofilament suture.

 

Colour:

Black (Logwood Black C.I. 75290).

 

Sizes and standard needles:

EP from 0,1 to 4; USP from 11/0 to 1; Sutron is attached to AISI 300 or AISI 400 stainless steel atraumatic needles.

 

Indications:

In general surgery, ophthalmic surgery, plastic surgery.

SILK

Silk braided multifilament coated with silicon

 

Material:

Silk.

 

Description: 

Natural non-absorbable braided suture coated with silicone or uncoated (Virgin Silk).

 

Colour:

Black (Logwood Black C.I. 75290 / Black C.I. 53185); blue (C.I. 52015) for virgin silk.

 

Sizes and standard needles:

EP from 0,3 to 7; USP from 9/0 to 5; Silk is attached to AISI 300 or AISI 400 stainless steel atraumatic needles.

 

Indications:

In general surgery, skin surgery, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, when it is necessary to suture or to tie tissues requiring a non-absorbable suture; virgin silk is particularly indicated for ophthalmic surgery.

STEEL

Steel monofilament wire

Composition: 

Steel - nichel - chromium - metal alloy.

Description: 

Synthetic non-absorbable monofilament suture.

 

Colour: 

Silver.

 

Sizes and standard needles: 

EP from 2 to 10; USP from 3/0 to 8; Steel is attached to AISI 300 or AISI 400 stainless steel atraumatic needles.

 

Indications: 

For sternum closure; for tendons retention and fixing; in orthopaedics.

TITANIO

Titanium Monofilament

 

Composition: 

Titanium, traces of other elements: (C~0.01%, Fe~0.05%, N ~0.008%, O ~0.07%, H~ 0.002%).

 

Description:

Synthetic non-absorbable monofilament suture.

 

Colour:

Silver.

 

Sizes and standard needles:

EP 7 and 8; USP 5 and 6; Steel is attached to AISI 300 or AISI 400 stainless steel atraumatic needles.

 

Indications: 

For sternum closure; for tendons retention and fixing; in orthopaedics.

SELENE

Polypropylene monofilament

 

Composition:

Polypropylene.

 

Description:

Synthetic non-absorbable monofilament suture.

 

Colour:

Blue (C.I. 74160 phthalocyanine).

 

Sizes and standard needles:

EP from da 0,2 to 4; USP from 10/0 to 1; Selene is attached to AISI 300 or AISI 400 stainless steel atraumatic needles. It is also packed in pouches containing teflon pledget or “sundry accessories” (polypropylene beads, collars and buttons) used to fix the thread end in intradermal sutures.

 

Indications: 

In cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, general surgery, ophthalmic surgery, plastic surgery, skin surgery, thoracic surgery, when it is necessary to suture slow healing tissues or tissues requiring a non absorbable suture. As most monofilament sutures, Selene is indicated for suturing infected or contaminated tissues.
